Kellett School Review

Overview of the School

Founded in 1976, Kellett School is a not-for-profit, co-educational British international school in Hong Kong, serving students from Reception (age 4) to Year 13.

It operates across two purpose-built campuses, the Pok Fu Lam Preparatory Campus on Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Bay Campus (which houses both Preparatory and Senior School sections). Kellett School delivers the full English National Curriculum through to I/GCSEs in Years 10–11 and GCE A-Levels in Years 12–13.

The school serves nearly 1,550 students from over 40 nationalities in a warm and inclusive community. Kellett School emphasises personal excellence, transferable skills, well-being, and a global outlook, nurturing confident young people who achieve their full potential and make a positive difference in the world under its guiding vision to engender “a love of learning and confidence for life”.

Academic Strengths

Kellett School delivers a high quality, English medium, British curriculum which promotes inquiry based learning, critical thinking, creativity, and holistic development.

From the broad, balanced English National Curriculum in the Preparatory and early Senior years through to rigorous I/GCSEs and specialised A-Level pathways, the programme builds strong foundational skills while encouraging students to explore, innovate, and reach their personal best. Small class sizes (average 23 in Prep, 14 in Senior, and just 9 in Sixth Form), differentiated teaching, and a focus on individual progress support a wide range of learning styles and needs. The school achieves outstanding I/GCSE and A-Level results, consistently among the strongest in Hong Kong, leading to excellent university placements worldwide, including top institutions in the UK, Hong Kong, and beyond.

Pastoral Care and Community Life

Pastoral care lies at the heart of Kellett School’s ethos, creating a nurturing, family like environment where every child feels supported, and valued. The award-winning Positively Kellett programme, a multilayered pastoral structure with tutors, Heads of House, trained counsellors, nurses, and student peer mentors, along with strong parent partnerships and a House system, help students build confidence, meaningful friendships, and a sense of belonging.

Co-Curricular Life

Kellett School offers a broad co-curricular programme. Activities include sports, performing arts, visual arts, music, drama, STEM, debate, leadership programmes, and extensive community service, with many running after school and integrated into the school day. Through the Global Citizenship programme, house events, charity work, and service opportunities under the Kellett Cares banner, students are encouraged to explore their passions and develop their leadership skills. These programmes promote real world engagement, and personal growth while reinforcing the school’s values of excellence, well-being, and community.

Why We Recommend Kellett School for Our Students

Kellett School is a dynamic, welcoming British international school with a strong commitment to academic excellence, character formation, and community connection. It is well suited for motivated students who will flourish in a values driven environment that seeks to educate the whole child. It is an ideal school for British and English speaking families in Hong Kong (or those connected to the British curriculum), as well as international families who value small class sizes, personalised pastoral care, outstanding arts and sports programmes, and an education that develops confident, happy young people.
